The employee’s knowledge is a crucial factor for the success of a company. Increasing employee fluctuation and labor shortages require the conservation of corporate knowledge. Changing markets and technologies require the continuous development of knowledge. While depth and relationships between disciplines increase, the knowledge is mostly bound to a few employees. Therefor companies have to secure relevant knowledge and to transfer new knowledge into the company. Through a transparent representation of corporate knowledge in form of knowledge maps it is possible to identify company strengths and weaknesses and recommend the right measures.

In the first phase the object and scenario within the department is defined. In the second phase, the current state of tasks and knowledge is recorded and an actual knowledge map of the department created. In the third phase, a scenario knowledge map is established. In comparison with the actual knowledge map opportunities and risks relating to the scenarios are derived. In the fourth phase, measures to develop the knowledge of the employees according to the analysis results are recommended.
