Project description
This project aims to transform a proven research method for automated synthesis of gear systems to its practical use for gearboxes, in collaboration with Romax Technologies, UK. The method combines engineering design grammars to capture formally fundamental and practical knowledge of designing gearboxes and computational search to solve geometric constraints. The result will be a new integrated design-analysis software module for synthesis of gearboxes targeted at reducing time to market, improving productivity and fostering innovation in gearbox design.
